A quaint suburb, Onrus contains cosy, romantic eating places. This suburb plays host to the annual Hermanus Times Kalfiefees during August, which brings a cultural experience to the local community. Arts and craft market every first Saturday of the month. Onrus Beach is popular for both young and old with tranquil lagoon and bird hide. Pelicans, spoon-bills, herons, yellow billed ducks, Egyptian geese, egrets, common terns, plovers, sandpipers, coots, white breasted reed cormorants and the pied kingfisher are just some of the species to be seen. The beach is also a favourite spot for surfers and body boarders.

Onrus Beach is well known for its superb surfing opportunities and a favourite among holiday makers and families. The Onrus caravan park is a firm favourite and sees visitors returning year after year to enjoy the slow living that Onrus offers.
